DGCA Technical General Classes in Ahmedabad
Do you understand why the aircraft flies and what every system on board is doing.
What the syllabus covers
- Aerodynamics: lift, drag, and the forces in flight
- Aerofoils, high-lift devices and their effects
- Stability, control and the effect of the centre of gravity
- Stalls, spins and their recovery
- Airframes, structures and flight controls
- Piston engines and gas turbine engines
- Propellers and their operation
- Fuel, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems
- Landing gear and braking systems
- Instruments: pitot-static, gyroscopic and compass
- Airworthiness and basic maintenance requirements
Where candidates lose marks
- The broadest paper on the syllabus. Candidates who study it last usually study it twice.
- Aerodynamics questions increasingly ask you to reason about a scenario rather than recall a definition.
- Instrument errors, compass turning and acceleration errors especially, are reliably examined and reliably forgotten.
